These updates are done using publicly available exchange rate information from financial data providers to help ensure prices for apps and in‑app purchases stay equalized across all storefronts. When tax regulations or foreign exchange rates change, we sometimes need to update prices on the App Store in certain regions and/or adjust your proceeds. The App Store’s commerce and payments system was built to empower you to conveniently set up and sell your products and services on a global scale in 44 currencies across 175 storefronts. ![]() Submit a request for a new approved reason If you have a use case for an API with required reasons that isn’t already covered by an approved reason and the use case directly benefits the people using your app, let us know. And starting in spring 2024, in order to upload your new app or app update to App Store Connect, you’ll be required to include an approved reason in the app’s privacy manifest which accurately reflects how your app uses the API. Starting in fall 2023, when you upload a new app or app update to App Store Connect that uses an API (including from third-party SDKs) that requires a reason, you’ll receive a notice if you haven’t provided an approved reason in your app’s privacy manifest. As part of this process, you’ll need to select one or more approved reasons that accurately reflect how your app uses the API, and your app can only use the API for the reasons you’ve selected. This will help ensure that apps only use these APIs for their intended purpose. To prevent the misuse of these APIs, we announced at WWDC23 that developers will need to declare the reasons for using these APIs in their app’s privacy manifest. We know that there are a small set of APIs that can be misused to collect data about users’ devices through fingerprinting, which is prohibited by our Developer Program License Agreement. This is excellent news for developers and users alike: users who run the latest versions of the operating systems not only get all the new features but also tend to be more safe from malware, spyware, and security leaks.Īnd of course this is wonderful news for developers: by now almost all developers can safely requier iOS 16 for their apps without excluding too many customers.Apple is committed to protecting user privacy on our platforms. ![]() Every time Apple releases a new version, be it a point release or a major new version, an overwhelming majority of users are very quick to update. This chart shows how quick to update iOS users are. So far there are no mentions of xrOS, the operating system for Apple's rumored headset, in the TelemetryDeck data set. We expect an iOS beta launch for WWDC in June 2023 and the final launch in September 2023, as is customary. This is not surprising, but it is pretty cool to see. On February 1, 2023, 86.5% of all iPhones are running iOS 16. On November 3, 2022, more devices were running iOS 16 than any other iOS version. On October 20, 2022, just 39 days after the public release, more devices were running iOS 16 than were running iOS 15, at 46.5% running iOS 16 and 44.5% of devices running iOS 15. After just one day, more than a quarter of iOS devices in the TelemetryDeck data set were running iOS 16. Adoption of iOS 16, which was released to the public on September 12, 2022, was fairly quick. ![]()
